Premium rock straight from the Featherock ™ mine in California, this is our flagship item. A classic favorite for Bonsai enthusiasts, pumice planters can be ideal for many plants. Plants can be mounted directly to the rock itself or with substrate placed in predrilled holes. Formed at the very top of pyroclastic eruption when the frothy lava is rapidly cooled by the ocean. This volcanic glass is inert and very light and porous, allowing water to be wicked from the lower parts. Water can be kept at whichever level allows water to travel to the plants, and can also be applied to the top in areas with lower absorption. Predrilled holes filled with some sphagnum moss can increase the wicking action. As no two rocks are exactly alike, the level of the water may vary.
